Little Pros
The next Little Pros Learn-to-Play starts Jan 2nd
Kids ages 4-11, who have not already participated in Little Preds, Hockey Academy, or youth league, are eligible for our Little Pros Learn-to-Play Hockey Program. Little Pros Learn-to-Play registrants receive a FREE starter bag of equipment, hockey stick, and jersey- all to keep (rental skates used during the session must be returned at the end of each class). To allow enough time to measure registrants for equipment and then order and receive equipment, registration must be completed a month before the session starts. Earlybird registration also includes two FREE Stick-and-Puck passes.
The Little Pros Learn to Play program* is for boys and girls AGES 4 – 10, who can skate but have never participated in hockey.

- 8-week Hockey Academy – Learn-to-Play Hockey session led by our hockey staff.
- Full equipment, hockey stick, and jersey to keep (participant must come to scheduled fitting).
- Skates to be used during the session (must be returned at the end of each class).
- Requires USA Hockey Registration.
* At a minimum, participants need to be able to skate across the ice without using a scooter or holding-on to the boards. It is recommended that kids first complete one or more Learn to Skate classes. Mid-South Ice House offers Learn-to-Skate classes through its Skate Academy.
*The main difference between Little Pros & Hockey Academy Learn to Play is that Hockey Academy does not come with equipment.
Players will be separated into groups by age & skill. Our class focuses on developing the skating skills learned in Skate Academy and introduces more advanced skating techniques (pivots, V-starts, transitions, etc.). The class also introduces stick handling, passing, shooting, cone drills, competition, relays, scrimmages, and more. We incorporate the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), which includes stations, small area games and skills training, lots of reps, and lots of puck touches.
Our class is structured to prepare participants for the next step—Youth Recreation League hockey.
Register by 1/25 (Early Bird):
$145 – 8 classes total.
Register by 2/1:
$160 – 8 classes total.
- Sibling Discount*: $10 off each additional child after 1st child.
- Second Class Discount*: $15 off if also registered for a Skate Academy class or playing in current Rec. League.
* May register online or on-site to receive Sibling or Second class discount.

2024 Hockey Academy Schedule
Session 1 2024: 1/2-2/20
Session 2 2024: 2/27-4/16
Session 3 2024: 4/23-6/11
Session 4 2024: 6/18-8/6
Session 5 2024: 8/13-10/1
Session 6 2024: 10/8-12/3
Fittings: Hockey players will be fitted for:
- Helmet
- Shoulder Pads
- Elbow Pads
- Gloves
- Pants
- Shin Pads
- Socks
- Neckguard
- Jersey
Players will also receive a wood hockey stick.
Once players are registered and fitted, they will receive all of their gear on the first day of the new session. Players will rent or use their own skates for the duration of the 8-week session. Coaches will help players and parents get all the gear adjusted and properly fitted for Day 1.
